The Challenge
An Edina homeowner with a 1980s two-story had original aluminum windows throughout, cedar siding at end-of-life, and persistent drafts at the primary bedroom level. Three contractors had given vague estimates without walking the opening conditions. The challenge was replacing 22 windows, 3 entry doors, and all four elevations of siding without uncovering mid-project substrate surprises that would blow the budget.
The Outcome
We completed a full opening inventory before signing, identified two elevations with water-damaged sheathing, and included repair allowances in the original contract. Marvin Elevate windows and LP SmartSide siding were installed over four weeks with daily site standards. The homeowners reported noticeably warmer rooms after the first winter, no callbacks, no re-flashing, and a finished exterior that fit the neighborhood's architectural character.
